Where the idea for Noralis came from, and what keeps it going.

Noralis started with a stack of half-finished fact-checks and a realization: most independent reporters in Indonesia don't have a research desk behind them. They pitch alone, verify alone, and often abandon leads simply because there's no time to chase down every document.

We built this practice to sit alongside that work rather than replace it — a second set of hands for the parts of a story that need patience more than speed. A phone call to test a pitch. A checking sheet for a draft that's nearly ready. A few afternoons in an archive that would otherwise go unvisited.

We're not a newsroom and we don't claim bylines. What drives us is fairly plain: reporting holds up better when someone has quietly checked the details.
